What is Hope? • Romans 8:24-25 - Hope involves two key elements: • something not seen • patience to obtain it
What it’s Not • Desire alone – Ferrari, one million dollars, etc. • Expectation alone – Get sick, pay high taxes, etc.
Hope is Based On • Promise – Genesis 3:15; Deuteronomy 18:15; 2 Samuel 7:12-17; Jeremiah 31:31; Isaiah 53 • Resurrection from the dead – Romans 3:23; Romans 5:3-8; 1 Corinthians 15:12-19
Hope is a result of saving Faith • Hebrews 11:1 – • “Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen.” (ASV) • “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (KJV)
