Importance By James Davidson
Synopsis • This short film will be of both the drama and crime genre, it will be shot in the style of an opening sequence of a feature length film, there will be a conclusion however it will leave room for more of a story to be told. The film is about an elderly man called Jack telling the story about his life through narration whilst we look back at his younger years, the story of how he went from a normal average life to a life of riches and importance with one simple scam.
Theme • The theme for this film is a rag’s to riches story, a story about someone who is willing to break the law in order to ascend to a better brighter life.
Visual Style • For my visual style as mentioned earlier I have took a lot of inspiration from Martin Scorsese in some of the techniques he uses in his films. The main one being his use of voice-overs from characters in the film, others such as the use of freeze frames will be implanted into my film, and his quite often used technique of breaking the 4th wall is something I will use in my film.

Actors • As of yet I haven’t acquired any actors besides the voice actor who will do the voice over for Jack (Jim Davidson), but I will need a male between the ages of 18 – 22, another male age ranged between 40 – 60, and a woman aged 30 – 40. I will also possibly need some extras for the bar scene. Once the script is finished I plan to advertise the role online and go around some acting schools in Liverpool.
Target Audience • The target audience is realistically anyone who is interested in a drama/crime genre film, however there will be some moderate swearing so it wouldn’t be appropriate for children.

Time scale • At this moment in time I don’t have any set dates for filming as I am working in a group with four other people who will also be filming around the same dates, not only this but I will have to arrange dates that the actors can work with (once actors have been acquired).
