Reason for Endangerment • The water level in the swamp has gone down because of man-made levees, canals, and flood gates that alter water flow.
Protective Measures Taken • The water level is being managed to help the Wood Stork have food and a place to nest.
Interesting Facts • The adult Wood Stork’s bill color is black. The young Wood Stork’s bill color is yellow. • They protect their eggs from other animals by attacking them. • They do not make any noise. • The male and female look alike.
