Main Characters: • Mae Tuck – wife of Angus and mother of Jesse and Miles • Gentle and kind • Realistic about her situation • Attacks and kills man with yellow suit when he threatened to take over the spring, sell the water, and force Winnie to drink the water and become immortal. • Ends up in jail, but Winnie and the Tucks break her out • 2. Angus Tuck – husband to Mae and leader of Tuck family • Father to Jesse and Miles; upset about living forever • 3. Jesse Tuck – first member of the Tuck family whom Winnie encounters; she finds him drinking from a spring which he refuses to let her drink from; Stopped aging at age 17; described as good looking despite being 104; enjoys immortality

  9. Miles Tuck- older son of Mae and Angus; wife and children abandon him when they find out Mae doesn’t age • Not fond of immortality • 5. Winnie Foster – 10 year old girl; unhappy with her overprotective family; runs away from home and is taken by the Tucks; PROTAGONIST • The man in the yellow suit – ANTAGONIST • Witnesses the Tucks kidnapping Winnie • Plans to gain land and money • Steals the Tucks horses and returns to the Fosters’ home, where he makes Winnie’s parents give up their land in exchange for Winnie’s safety • Since the spring is on the Foster’s land, he now possesses the spring and plans to see the water to the public in addition to forcing Winnie to drink some • Shot and killed by Mae Tuck • Winnie’s Mother – strict woman who insists that the home is kept neat • Tough on Winnie and wants her to stay out of trouble
