Different Types of Volunteers “People have different reasons for volunteering. Short Term/Placements • Defined time-frame and purpose • Looking to deliver a specific task • Possible learning outcomes and skills • Could last between approx. 3-6 months 2. Finding Volunteers - Working with Partners • Sea Cadets – general activities at the ship and around Victoria Dock • The Inclusion Group – helping with garden area and some ship maintenance • University of Dundee – student placements around marketing, event management and digital/IT work • University of St Andrews – 3-month student placements working on exhibitions, museum outreach and collections management HMS Unicorn Victoria Dock, Dundee, DD1 3BP www.frigateunicorn.org
