Role in the SWARM project • UNMO should contribute to the current situation in the water sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially for the segment of Integral water management, and its impact on the education of hydro technical engineers. • Contribution to the improvement of curricula of already existing subjects in the field of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, as well as the introduction of possible new subjects that will significantly improve the competences of students. • UNMO should also participate in transferring knowledge to the public sector and citizens with a goal to raise awareness of the importance of effective Management in Water Resources. Rujište • Mountain spa and nature park 18 km north from Mostar. • Bosnian pine, an endemic and very rare tree, • One of the areas with the richest concentration of oxygen in this part of Europe. • 1050 meters in altitude makes Rujište attractive in summer due to temperature that can be 10 C below than City of Mostar average. The historic site of Počiteljon the left bank of the river Neretva, south of Mostar. During the Middle Ages, Počitelj was considered the administrative centre and centre of governance of Dubrava župa (county). It is believed that the fortified town along with its surrounding settlements were built by Bosnia's King Stjepan Tvrtko the first, in 1383. The walled town of Počitelj evolved in the period from the 16th to the 18th centuries. Architecturally, the stone-constructed parts of the town are a fortified complex, in which two stages of evolution are evident: medieval, and Ottoman. Hutovo Blato • Nature park and bird reserve • On the list of BirdLife International's Important Bird Areas. • Largest reserve of its kind in the region, in terms of both size and diversity. • Home to over 240 types of migratory birds and dozens that make their permanent home in the subMediterranean wetlands surrounding Deransko Lake. • In the migration season, tens of thousands of birds fill the lake and its surroundings. Kravice is a waterfall on the Trebižat River, 40 km south of Mostar. Its height is between 25 metres and the radius of the lake in the base of the waterfall is 120 metres. Kravice is a popular swimming and picnic area. The Kravice Falls area also has a little cafe, a rope swing, a picnic area, and a place to camp. The best time of year for visiting is during the springtime - when the arid landscape turns a bright green. There is a small grotto near the Kravice Falls with stalactites made of calcium carbonate, an old mill and a sailing ship. Medjugorje is a town in the Herzegovina around 25 km southwest of Mostar and close to the border of Croatia. Since 1981, it has become a popular site of religious pilgrimage due to reports of apparitions of the Virgin Mary to six local Catholics. At an altitude of 200 m above sea level it has a mild Mediterranean climate. Radimlja , Stolac • stećak necropolis located in Vidovo polje, 3 km west of Stolac • one of the most valuable monuments of the mediaeval period in Bosnia and Herzegovina. • The majority of stećak tombstones date from the 15th and 16th centuries • in 1967 necropolis had a total of 133 tombstones. NEUM • Neum is the only town on Bosnia and Herzegovina coast. With 24.5 km of coastline, it is only access to the Adriatic Sea. • around 5,000 beds for tourists, 1,810 in hotels with the remaining capacity in motels, villas, and in private accommodation. • The inland area behind Neum has a rich archeological history and untouched wilderness and is starting to develop agricultural tourism.
