  1. MAT2019 ManagementAptitudeTest(MAT) is an important national level MBA entrance exam which is conducted by AIMA. More than 300 MBA colleges accept MAT exam score for admission to their MBA programmes.ꢀ AIMA conducts MAT exam four times a year in the months of February, May, September and December. MAT full form is Management Aptitude Test and the exam score is valid for MBA/PGDM admission across the country.ꢀꢀ Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardised test being administered since 1988 to facilitate MBA colleges to screen candidates for admission to MBA, PGDM and allied programmes. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School - national or international - can consider MAT Score as the admission criteria based on its Score Cards issued to the candidates.ꢀ

  2. ModesofMATExam There are two modes of MAT exam. It is held as paper based test as well as computer based test in the same month. A candidate can choose to appear either in paper based test or both – paper based and computer based test.ꢀ Application & Exam Fee MAT application and exam fee for one exam is Rs.1550/- and for two exams in the same month is Rs.2650/-. The MAT fee should be paid online. Next Exam dates The MAT September2019PaperBased test date is September 1 and Computer based test date is September 14, 2019. Last date to apply for paper based exam is August 25 and for computer based test is September 8, 2019. The registration & application process is completely online.

  3. ScoreValidity The score ofMATSeptemberexamwill be accepted by the MBA colleges for admission MBA/PGDM courses starting in 2020. The best part of appearing in each MAT exam is that you can improve your score after every 3 months. Each exam score is valid for 1 year. The best exam score would be considered to get the merit position during admission process of the B- school. The list of Colleges accepting MAT score is published by AIMA for each exam separately.ꢀ 

  5. HowtoApplyforMATExam? The application to appear in MAT exam should be submitted online only. A candidate with graduation in any discipline with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST category) can apply to appear in MAT exam. A student in final year of bachelor’s degree can also apply and appear in the exam.  Filling the MATApplicationformis a five step process and can be completed in a few minutes at official AIMA MAT website. It involves Login Creation for registration; Filling the MAT Application Form; Uploading photo & signature on application form; Making Payment of application fee online. The last and most important thing is to view the summary of application details. In case of any mistake, please correct it immediately.  An important thing to note is that the applicant should cross check the eligibility requirement of the MBA college to which he/she wants to apply as only MAT eligibility will not be sufficient for admission.ꢀꢀ 

  6. MATExamPattern Management Aptitude Test is an easy exam. It is divided into five sections but the last section is not counted for percentile calculation. The exam is held in paper based pattern as well as computer based pattern on different dates in the same month with easy difficulty level. The details of the exam are: MAT test paper has a time duration of 2½ hours from 10AM to 12.30PM. There are 200 objective type questions in MCQs form in the question paperꢀ Question difficulty level is easy to moderate The exam is divided in 5 sections with 40 questions in each section Each correct answer is awarded +1 Mark Each wrong answer is penalized with negative marking of -0.25 mark MATexamsections are Language Comprehension, Mathematical skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Indian and Global Environment. Merit Score in the exam is calculated on the basis of 4 sections only and the score of Indian & Global Environment is separately shown but is not taken into account to calculate the merit or percentile in the score card. The score card displays scaled score out of 800 Marks and not out of 160 or 200 raw scores On the score card along with the sectional and overall scaled scores, the sectional and overallꢀpercentile is also displayed. ꢀ

HowtoPrepareforMAT? ꢀ One of the important points which differentiate MAT exam preparation from other exams is the separate section with 40 questions in MAT on ‘Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency (DADS)’ which is slightly different from Data Interpretation in other exams. The DADS Preparation forMATexamand the strategy to prepare for this important section is to be properly planned and followed to score high.ꢀ  The exam preparation strategy needs more focus on four core sections keeping the ‘Indian & Global Environment’ section at second place. It requires your focus on preparing for the most important following 4 sections with 160 questions. These are Language Comprehension; Data Analysis & Data Sufficiency; Intelligence & Critical Reasoning; and Mathematical skills.ꢀ 

  8. MATcutoffsforAdmissionꢀ  The cut offs in MBA admission are not very high although the MAT question paper andꢀscoring patternꢀaward liberal marks to exam takers. The MAT colleges cut offs especially among top 20 MAT colleges like – BIMTECH, IESMCRC, SDMIMD, NDIM, Jaipuria, FIIB, FLAME among others are slightly higher as compared to other MBA colleges accepting MAT scores since the merit position in top 20 colleges is based on little higher cut offs.ꢀ ꢀ MAT Result is published in the last week in the month of MAT exam.The MAT score card is made available for download on AIMA official Website and no score card is sent by post or E-mail.ꢀꢀ ꢀ AIMA releases a list ofMBAcollegesacceptingMATscorefor each MAT exam on its official website. There is variation in number of MBA colleges accepting MAT exam score for each of the four MAT exams.
