A little about InTempo Software • We have been a business partner with Enrinsiksince 2012 • We resell Informer to our heavy equipment rental customers as an add on to our ERP software • Currently have approximately 55 customers running Informer 4 • Love Informer 4 but have some challenges • Customers have hard time understanding our data structures • Moving more and more to dashboards and visuals – very resource intensive in most cases • Internal Support – limited support group that understand how to support Informer 4
Rolling Out Informer5 – What is Success? • Informer 5 – Not just anupgrade! • New/improved concepts– more visually oriented, notion of data sets presents features • Better security/team/communication focus • Migration could be a significant challenge for us • Need to gain customer and organizational support for successful migration • Need achievable goals and objectives • Need to understand all of the groups involved • Will require learning – new concepts, new technologies All of this requires that you start with a Vision of what success looks like!
ToolBox: Start with an Impact Statement • What is an Impact Statement? • Template for understanding impacts to various groups related to product • Provides a starting point for understanding/driving changes in behavior • Focused on Customer/End Users • Why should I use an Impact Statement? • Helps show the value/benefit of the tool to customer and organization • It can help drive other key planning/documentation efforts related to implementation • It can help outline key assumptions related success andend use of the product
Elements of Impact Maps • Goals • Achievable Goals • Be Specific • Users/Actors • Who is involved • More than just end user • Impacts/Changes • What behavior do you want to change • Deliverable • Products to be delivered
RealWorld Results: Our Informer 5 Rollout • Started project in November 2017 • In January 2018 put project on hold to customers to wait for multi-tenant version • Use of Impact Statement allowed us to quickly recognize areas that were not going to be successful • Allowed us to reprioritize resources to work on training and internal aspects of rollout • Resuming customer rollouts this fall • Impact Statement had an impact
