Developed Seven Tasks which allow • understanding of the problem • understanding of the patient and sharing of understanding, decisions and responsibilities • development and maintenance of the doctor-patient relationship
Understanding the Problem • 1. Define reason for attendence • Nature of problem and history • Aetiology • ICE • Effects that problems are having • 2. Consider other problems • Is there anything else? • At risk factors
Understanding the Patient and Sharing • 3. With the patient, choose appropriate actions for each problem • 4. Achieve shared understanding • 5. Involve the patient in management and encourage them to take responsibility
Developing/Maintaining a Relationship • 6. Use time and resources appropriately • Both in short and long term • 7. Establish a relationship with the patient which helps to achieve the other tasks
