Goals: • To engage all parts of the Zonta world starting November 2012 • To raise awareness of the topic internally • To stimulate actions to fight violence against women (VAW) • To spread news of Zonta’s accomplishments in this field and on-going efforts • To increase Zonta’s visibility
Message: “Zonta says NO” to violence against women.
Campaign Principles • This campaign is an ownership campaign: Fighting violence against women is an integral part of our activities as a Zontian. • The action is local / regional (projects, fundraisers, events). • The action is international (via zonta.org, social media and DCs). • Action and communications use our relationship with UN Women. • Coordination is central. • The campaign is with all its actions a PR tool to promote Zonta’s actions on VAW – on-going and future ones.
Integrated approach that will combine activities of • other ZI Committees and use... • the 2013 UN CSW topic “VAW” and UN Women’s support • dates such as IWD, 11/25 and UN 16 days of activism • Zonta e-newsletters and The Zontian • a special section on zonta.org • Social Media • campaign item(s), e.g. orange ribbon • District Conferences and Area Meetings • local, regional PR • one common action for all clubs / members on Nov. 25th 2013: visualization of number of reported victims of VAW within local community / area.
Timeframe: November 2012: Kick-off of central campaign November 25 thru December 10, 2013: One common action for all clubs/members on November 25th, 2013 and local actions. On ZI website: online pledge and/or online discussion January 2014: actions and internal comms continue

Campaign Part 1 -> Kick-off • November 2012: • Engaging Governors and D-PR-Chairmen, starter kit/presentation, Q&A • Special Campaign section on our website goes live • Email announcement to all members December 2012: • IPR&Comms Committee liaisons to Districts follow-up
Campaign Part 1 -> Set-up • December 2012 thru November 2013: • Clubs will prepare for November 2013, conduct local research, select a project or continue their respective project, share information about activities, prepare local action and local/central event • Planning will be accompanied by international action (CSW), e-Newsletter, website, The Zontian, International Committees supporting Districts and Clubs • Service Committee’s project competition could feature a VAW project and be therefore directly linked to the campaign
Campaign Part 2: • November 25, 2013: Common Action • e.g. all Zontians wear an orange wrist band with Zonta logo (made available through the Zonta Store), pictures will be e-mailed to HQ and immediately posted on the Web site • Local action in all cities with ZC: visualize the (reported/estimated) number of victims of VAW in the community, media events etc. • Kick-off for ”16 Days of Activism” Visualization of victims, „Silent Wittnesses“ campaign displaying silhouettes, as an example.
