1. THIS MORNING, WE EXPECT TO OBTAIN A FULLER KNOWLEDGE OF GOD
WE EXPECT TO OBTAIN A FULLER KNOWLEDGE OF GOD A. IGNORANCE AND TRUE WORSHIP ARE JUST NOT COMPATIBLE. John 4:22; Acts 17:22-23
WE EXPECT TO OBTAIN A FULLER KNOWLEDGE OF GOD • IGNORANCE AND TRUE WORSHIP ARE JUST NOT COMPATIBLE. John 4:22; Acts 17:22-23 • WE MUST KNOW GOD. John 17:3; Heb. 8:10-11.
WE EXPECT TO OBTAIN A FULLER KNOWLEDGE OF GOD • IGNORANCE AND TRUE WORSHIP ARE NOT COMPATIBLE. John 4:22; Acts 17:22-23 • WE MUST KNOW GOD. John 17:3; Heb. 8:10-11. • THOSE WHO WORSHIP GOD MUST REGULARLY COME TO KNOW GOD BETTER THAN THE NON-WORSHIPER. John 17:3, 5, 8, 20-21, 23, 26.
2. THIS MORNING, WE EXPECT TO DRAW NEAR TO GOD.
WE NEED TO DRAW NEAR TO GOD James 4:8Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
B. WE MUST COME BEFORE GOD AND EACH OTHER WITH TRUE HEARTS. Heb. 10:22; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
We draw near in song. Psalm 146:1-2 • We draw near in prayer. Heb. 13:15 • We draw near in the Lord's Supper.. I Cor. 11:23-26; 16-22; 27-29. • :
TRUE WORSHIP IS AN IMPORTANT AND EXCELLENT WAY TO DRAW NEAR TO GOD.
III. THIS MORNING, WE EXPECT TO REINFORCE THE HOPE WITHIN US
The hope of the Christian is: 1. The hope of the resurrection. Acts 23:6, 24:16; I Thess. 4:16-18; 5:8
The hope of the Christian is: 1. The hope of the resurrection 2. The hope of salvation. Titus 1:3; 3:7.
The hope of the Christian is: 1. The hope of the resurrection 2. The hope of salvation. 3. The hope of being like Christ. I John 3:23
Heb. 10:23 -Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
1. Faith and hope are closely related. Heb. 11:1Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
2. When we have true hope, we eagerly wait for the object of our hope. Rom. 8:24-25: For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
3. Our hope of heaven is a "living hope." It is alive and vibrant. 1 Pet. 1:3-4:Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
C. OUR HOPE NEEDS TO BE STRENGTHENED AND RENEWED, AND WHAT BETTER WAY THAN IN OUR WORSHIP? 1. Worship reminds us of God's reality. 2. Worship reminds us of God's promises. 3. Worship reminds us of God's power. 4. Thus, worship encourages us to hold fast to our hope.
WE HAVE COME TO WORSHIP - BOTH TO GIVE AND TO RECEIVE. Heb. 10:24And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works
Love - We promote good will, concern, and interest in one another.
Good works - We plan good works that we can do together. We encourage one another to keep busy in doing good.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO "STIR UP" AND TO BE "STIRRED UP" WHEN WE FORSAKE OUR WORSHIP ASSEMBLIES.
A. WE ARE TO BEAR MUCH FRUIT AND TO BE FULL OF GOOD FRUITS John 15:8By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
TO WORSHIP REGULARLY IS TO BEAR FRUIT: 1. We give God the worship that He seeks. 2. We grow and develop spiritually. 3. We set a good example. 4. We hold fast our allegiance, profession, and hope. 5. We put the kingdom first. 6. We fulfill our duties to others. 7. Its part of being ready, watching, and waiting.
LET US BE GLAD FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORSHIP OUR GOD. Psalm 122:1I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
