Health Technology and Telehealth Fund Projects • The Successful Projects: • Technology Refresh for Optometry and Connectivity to NHS Network (£749,000) • Open Eyes (Platform for integrated eye care across Wales) (£260,000)
Open Eyes: Description Description To further develop and deploy the Open Eyes application for NHS Wales Benefits • Improve the integration, access and sharing of eye care information • Triage ophthalmic optician referrals to ophthalmologists with an expected reduction of new referrals
Open Eyes: Project Deliverables • Implementation of OpenEyes in 1 hospital per Health Board to support virtual and traditional outpatient clinics • Build national infrastructure to support OpenEyes on an all Wales basis • Migrate the Cardiff and Vale instance of OpenEyes to the National infrastructure • Development and testing of the referral module • Implementation of the referral module: • Minimum of 1 Optometry practice per Health Board • 1 hospital in each Health Board • Develop the integration roadmap for OpenEyes in Wales • Develop the service management transition plan and support model
Optometry Connectivity: Project Deliverables • Connection of Optometry Practices to the NHS Wales network (438) • Delivery of an NHS eMail account and OpenEyes to each practice • Establish a one-off IT allowance scheme to fund Optometry practice IT
