What is a weight loss supplement? • According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), “a dietary supplement is a product intended for ingestion that contains a dietary ingredient, intended to add further nutritional value to (supplement) the diet.” A weight loss supplement is used primarily for the purpose of weight loss. • Do not require any safety approval by the FDA prior to marketing • Dietary supplements come in various forms such as tablets, capsules, bars, powders, and liquids
