  6. Trips • Beaulieu Motor Museum (February/March) – approx. £15 • - Marwell Zoo (December) – approx. £17 • - River Meon (June) – approx. £8

  7. Homework • Where to find the policy? – 1 x English, 1 x Maths, Spelling and Reading • Homework is set on a Friday and is due in the following Friday however there will be opportunities within the week to get additional support in completing the homework • We encourage parents to work alongside their children to complete their homework • However if the children are struggling they should let their teacher know by Tuesday so they can get some additional support

  8. Spellings • - 2 - 3 whole class lessons per week • - Spelling rules will be taught followed by application activities • - Spellings given following this rule • - Spellings are tested the following Friday • - Additional support is provided through interventions throughout the week for children who require it • - Year 6 word list can be found online on the National Curriculum (take a copy if you would like one before you leave)

  9. Reading • Daily guided reading – children will have a key text they are working on and will complete activities in response to what they’ve read • Extra interventions are taught throughout the week for children who require them • We also encourage children to read daily at home from a range of texts • - School library is open every day before and after school if you would like to help your child select a book. • 8:30-8:45am and 3:15-3:30pm

PE Kit • Blue or red shorts • Trainers/plimsoles • White or red PE top • Tracksuit top and bottoms (Winter) • Hair bobble • NO jewellery • Swimming: towel, swimming hat, swimming costume (girls) or swimming trunks – tight fitting (boys) • Please note: your child must have the correct kit for their PE lessons. If kit is not in school on the day of their lesson, your child will not be able to take part in the lesson. A phone call home will follow. • Please be mindful of the attire worn at after-school clubs

Expectations Presentation: • Tidy and clean • Neat and something they are proud of • Maths- one digit per square • Underlining with a ruler • Joined up handwriting – essential for ARE • Mistakes- one line through with a ruler • Pencil for maths, pen for writing Responsibility: • Role models for the rest of the school • Choosing class prayer/writing prayer for collective worship

Communication – between you and I • - Newsletters are distributed at the start of every new unit (roughly 4-5 weeks) • - Available at the end of most school days from 3:15-3:30pm. • - If you require a meeting about something specific then you can book an appointment through the school office. • Parents evening

  14. Communication – MarvellousMe • MarvellousMe badges tell parents what their children have succeeded in at school. It’s a digital upgrade to sending postcards; more effective, quicker, and no paper and postage costs. • Children will be recognised for going over and above in demonstrating our foundations of learning. • These messages are sent directly to at least one mobile device and can be shared with your child on receiving them.
