  2. INTRODUCTION Approximately 406 acres of canal Right-of-Ways 3 Storm Water Treatment Areas (STAs) Approximately 45 access gates Access roads of various widths, signs, telephone poles and water control structures

  3. SCOPE OF WORK Work consists of side slope mowing of grassed and/or vegetated embankment areas with conventional high production style mowing equipment. Additionally, the use of small machine mowing and/or hand held equipment (string trimmers) shall be necessary. Mowing surface greater than a 3:1 ratio Equipment: To include all tools or devices utilized by the Contractor to complete services under the RFB

  6. SIGHTINGS • Obey all speed limit signs • Do not hunt, fish, approach, attack, harm, harass, handle, or remove any animal or plant species 8

  7. TENATIVE WORK SCHEDULE 4 to 6 cycles per year District can modify as needed Monday thru Saturday excluding District holidays Dawn to dusk Changes to the work schedule must be approved in writing

  8. WORK BREAKDOWN Areas, boundaries and limits have been pre-established Area quantities have been inventoried and calculated Width of area calculated using a Westward Distance Wheel Distance in feet calculated using JAMAR RAC Plus 1

  9. ACCESS Contractor must obtain keys from the District to access work site(s). District Key Permitting current key deposit rates apply for each key requested All gates and entry barriers must be IMMEDIATELY secured when entering or exiting a ROW Change to OPEN

  10. PRE-WORK Notice to Proceed Issued Contractor receives NTP prior to each cycle Contractor reviews start and end dates and acreage Contractor starts work within 7 working days of receiving NTP Pre-Work Meeting Contractor attendance mandatory Contractor provides anticipated work schedule Questions are resolved with the District Project Manager prior work Mowing Schedule Contractor provides detailed schedule to be completed by the NTP end date Mutual agreement dates for inspections Revised mowing schedule: How and when to recover from slippage

INSPECTIONS • Contractor Pre-Inspects ROW • Contractor mows ROWs • Contractor inspects completed ROW prior to requesting inspection • District Project Manager Inspects ROW • Contractor anticipates completion of each ROW and provides advanced notification to the District Project Manager • The District Project Manager will inspect the ROW within 2 business days

  12. COMMUNICATION • Two way communication is vital for the success of the project • Weekly status reports are due by 12:00 PM every Thursday during a mowing cycle • Immediately telephone the District Project Manager when absent from the work site or delayed in mowing on a scheduled work day. Email follow up by 7:00 AM prior to the scheduled start of work. • Respond to all phone calls and/or pages within 2 hours, followed by email and/or fax within the same business day

  13. EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE Minimal equipment maintenance allowed on ROWs Mowing blades must be maintained and kept sharp for optimal results and to prevent scalping

  14. IDENTIFICATION & ATTIRE All Contractor employees, vehicles and mowing equipment must be clearly and visibly identified Each vehicle must contain a copy of the NTP under which work is being performed

  15. SAFE WORK PRACTICES • Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) • Protective Eyewear • Gloves • Proper Footwear • Hearing Protection • Reflective Safety Vests • Hard Hat • Seat Belt • Tractor Safety • Seat Belt • Mirrors • Reflectors

  16. DEBRIS REMOVAL • Contractor Removes Debris • Contractor pre-inspects ROWs and removes all debris • Debris over 150 lbs or 4’ in dimension will be removed by the District

  17. MOWING QUALITY Dense vegetation may require more than 1 pass 6” height “+” or “-” 1” Within 1’ of all structures 5-10 ft tall 6” cut

  18. MOWING QUALITY (cont’d) • Canal Bank Conditions • DO NOT MOW WHEN: • Soggy due to excessive wet conditions • Sandy due to excessive dry conditions • Will cause rutting: Contractor responsible for repairs • Contact District Project Manager

  19. REPAIR OF DAMAGED TURF Any damage to property that is caused by the Contractor shall be repaired within five (5) working days. In the case of scalping, rutting, gouging, or similar damage, there are two (2) methods of which the repairs shall be made. Sod or Seeding:The Contractor is responsible for establishing a growing, healthy stand of turf over the area that was damaged. The SOW contains the Districts standards for both applications.
