  2. Journal • Describe a fictitious world where no theatre exists. This includes television shows, movies, plays, cartoons, video games, etc. How would this affect our world? Your life? (8-10 sentence minimum)

  3. What is drama? • “Drama is literature intended for presentation by actors.” • Brainstorm a list of events that qualify as drama… • Live actors, Puppet shows, Plays, etc.

How do they make the literature come alive? • Elements! • Literary elements • Script, plot structure, suspense, theme, setting, language • Technical elements • Props, scenery, sound, costuming, make-up, lighting and special effects • Performance elements • Acting, speaking, nonverbal expression

  13. Musical • a play in which the story is told through a combination of spoken dialogue and musical numbers

  14. Morality • plays with right/wrong ethical questions which reply upon beliefs, cultures, etc. to decipher

  15. Satire • South Park • Colbert • a play in which sarcasm, irony, and ridicule are used to expose or attack the foolish behavior of human beings
