Knowing a word well means that you can tell the definition, part of speech, and use it in a sentence. Complete these two activities (3 points each): Use each word in a sentence. Poems, rhymes, songs, articles, stories, etc., may also be created in place of standard sentences. Find the part of speech for each word and write it on your word list next to each definition. Many words have more than one! 3. Choose 3 of the following activities (3 points each): Circle your choices please. Any work that isn’t finished in class will be homework. All work is due on the Test Day!

Sentence Search Search for each vocabulary word online. Find one sentence example showing how the word is used for each part of speech that applies. For example: If the word can be used as a noun, and as a verb, find a sentence example for each part of speech. Run: Verb Larry will run five miles today. Noun That five-kilometer run was brutal! Use the sentences to complete your Wordsmith Sheet! Yes, you may share examples with your group. * When you have finished, help others find examples.
Synonyms and Antonyms Search for each vocabulary word online. Find one synonym and one antonym for each word. Some words, such as nouns, will not have Synonyms and Antonyms. Display your words as a list, or a chart. opposite same * When you have finished, help others find examples.
Graphic Associations Thinking of an image for each word you learn can help you remember them better. Draw pictures representing each vocabulary word. Vocabulary Quizzes Create a quiz that uses all of the words on our vocabulary list. Your quiz MUST include the word and definitions in some way. Part of Speech Sorting NOUNS VERBS 1. Write each word from the list on a note card. 2. Sort the words into categories based on their parts of speech. 3. Look up the part of speech and check the sorting. * If time allows, write a sentence on the back of the card using the word. ADJ. ADV.
