Majorly used in the southern India the coconut, sesame and sunflower oil have made their ways to the kitchen across the country. While coconut oil and sesame oil have been a part the tradition, sunflower oil has captured the market with their initial promotions as healthy oil. Unlike the restricted use of the sunflower oil, the coconut and sesame oil have an ample of uses even outside its primary industry. Pertaining to the varied uses, only 3/4th of the sesame oil extracted is used for the direct consumption, while nearly 12% is used in the manufacturing of soap, paint, and lubricants. While in case of coconut oil, only less than half of the extracted oil is used for the edible purpose. The sunflower oilu2019s popularity is rising because of its physical characteristics. Sunflower oil is getting more popular among homemakers, primarily because of its light golden character. They prefer it because of its clear look as it is assumed something related to clarity. The consumption of sesame oil is facing a paradigm shift because of its increasing use in different cuisines, ayurveda, various massage oils, etc, and thus creating a demand for organic variant. The coconut oil have its prominence in every possible usage, backed by the easy availability, faces a red sign from many known health organizations, including the World Health Organization, advising to limit or avoid the consumption, due to its high levels of saturated fat. As the sunflower is suitable for all cuisines and cookery purpose, the household consumers prefer to purchase in bulk, evidently the 5 litre size segment holding a share of 27.66% in 2019, and expected to show an increase in the forecasted period. With the easier chances of contamination, the consumers prefer to purchase smaller quantity of sesame and coconut oil, preferably in pet bottles. Apart from the knowledge imparted from the internet and the constant promotions by the brand, the current generation females are influenced by the fact that these oils have been an integral part of their mother's kitchen.
