  1. Where To First! Ang Sea Iaw EldwinLiew Laurence Putra

  2. Problem • Queues can happen spontaneously • Queues can disappear anytime too • People often get stuck in queues in one place. • And move on to the next place after that which now has a long queue, but had no queue previously.

  3. Solution • Where To First creates a distributed system of nodes that carry information about the queue lengths in the area. • Information is generated by the producer app, placed strategically in the shop to ensure accuracy • Camera on the producer device will generate the estimated queue length

  4. Screenshots of Producer App

  5. Solution • User uses the consumer app. • Consumer app allows the user to select the type of shops that they are interested in, and displays the queue lengths on the app. • The consumer app also contains a Intelligent Information Forwarding service, on top of DTN, that works mainly to avoid and reduce the possibility of a broadcast storm. • In the event that user stop receiving updates from the producer app, the consumer app would then use the trend determined from the previous encounters for up to 20minutes, and the data will be considered too stale to be used and discarded.

  7. Sensors and Technology used • Location sensor • Camera (facial recognition to determine queue length) • Delay Transfer Network • Intelligent Information Forwarding service
