All District 7040 Rotary Clubs eligible and invited to participate • Connect with the New Generation • Dates - June 27-28-29, 2014 – 2 ½ days • Age Range – 15-17 Years old, Sophomores and Juniors • Raise your Club's and high school’s profile in the community • An educational and life changing experience • Leadership and ethics plus life skills • Paul Smiths College on St Regis Lake, the VIC Center and Tupper Lake Wild Center • Cost includes 7 meals + accommodation + activities + materials +. • Cost - $400 all inclusive • Lays a foundation for starting an interact club RYLA District 7040 OVERVIEW
June 27 to June 29, 2014 – 2 ½ days • Come to Paul Smiths College on the shore of St Regis Lake. Live in their newest Dorm Suites. Mix and mingle with other High School students & Rotarians. Learn about Leadership, Experiment and Enjoy the Adirondacks, Visit the VIC and The Tupper Lake Wild Center. • Potential Workshop leaders subject matter experts from Middlebury & Paul Smiths Colleges, Clarkson & St Lawrence Universities, Lake Placid High School, New York State Law Enforcement, Rotary, business world and others. • LP Rotary organizes and staffs event in conjunction with Paul Smiths and The Wild Center. Other club’s welcome to volunteer staff. All staff will be “background checked”. “When and Where”
Objective: to provide an opportunity to 45 young participants to attend RYLA 2014 which aims to: •Demonstrate our respect and concern for youth • Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders • Encourage leadership of youth by youth• Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities “What is it?”
You may submit up to four applications. The candidates should be selected on the basis of character, general education and academic excellence, leadership qualities, and a record of service and volunteering in the school or community, such as: • ● Rotaract ● Boys or Girls Club • ● Interact ● Scouts or Guides • ● Camp Enterprise ● Junior Achievement • ● Coaching ● Sports Team Management • ● 4H Club ● Militia • ● Student Council ● Political Involvement • ● Community Service ● Other Leadership Program Look for enthusiasm, energy, smarts, inclination to teamwork, self starting. etc. “Who”
Contact your high school principal or guidance counselor. • Get them to nominate – best and brightest based on criteria • Send the selected students the application forms • Establish a 2 or 3 person Interview Panel • Panel meets students individually at the school for interview - ½ hour per – prepare questions from criteria… • Select finalist(s) • Send the final delegates the release forms • Make sure those not selected don’t get a feeling of failure by working with the person who sponsored their nomination • By April 15 Register your delegate.
