Specific Partner Kitting Table of Contents Chapter 1 : Introduction and problematic Chapter 2 : Mechanical Issue with the existing product Chapter 3 : Mechanical Solution for 1D Imager and Laser scanner Chapter 4 : Specific case : 2D HHP EndCap
Chapter 1 : Introduction • Presentation of the product : • Name : UHF-CA3-ACX-XMOD • Description :RFID MODULE UHF 500mW Circular polarized Antenna with Xmod connection • PN concerned : 1100635 (CE) and 1100645 (America) • Feature : No GPRS and Scanner compliant • Problematic : • The RFID product UHF-CA3-ACX-XMOD doesn’t support any Endcap Scanner options due to a mechanical issue between the RF connector of the RFID and the scanner. That is why both options are not available in the configurator. • Objective : • Make a specific kitting in order to be compliant with the End-cap scanner options
Chapter 2 : Mechanical Issue Scanner connector RFID Module RF antenna connector • Physical contact between the RF antenna connector and scanner connector. • No possibility to connect the scanner flex • Risk of damage during the drops tests. • Risk to decrease the RFID performance : Noise coupled to the RFID cable • End cap Scanner option not available with this kind of RFID configuration !!!
Chapter 3 : Mechanical Solution • Avoid the mechanical interferences between the connectors • Move the CAEN RFID module a bit higher by placing a shielding plate underneath • Shielding used in the GPRS option : PN 1050659-001 (METALWORK GSM MC75i) Solution step by step Un-stick the CAEN module from the PCB board Put an adhesive tape on top of the shielding plate Position the shielding between the PCB board and the shielding plate Stick and Place the RFID module above the shielding plate Put new EMI gaskets on the RFID module (thicker ones)
Chapter 3 : Mechanical Solution • Follow the same routing cable for the scanner flex • No longer mechanical interferences • This solution is valid only for the 1D Laser and Imager scanners • Endcap scanner compliant with this solution : 1D EV15 Imager / 1D Laser SE955
Chapter 4 : Specific Case 2D HHP Scanner Problematic : • Scanner connector and Flex cable are different from Laser / Imager scanner • If you try to connect UHF Circular Xmod + 2D HHP Endcap, you could succeed in assembling both parts HOWEVER this would lead to some noises issues. Noises coming from the flex would degrade overall RFID performances. Don’t assembly this way !!!
Chapter 4 : Specific Case 2D HHP Scanner Solution : • Follow the same mounting instruction as we previously recommended for Laser and Imager 1D scanner. Solution step by step Use a flex scanner “short version”-> connect the two parts Put a “Kapton” adhesive tape between both connectors and the PCB Position the shielding between the PCB board and the shielding plate Stick and Place the RFID module above the shielding plate
Conclusion : Thanks for your Attention Any QUESTIONS ??
