Getting to know Zebras • Zebras are known as the king of stripes • Zebras are in the Equidae family • Zebras are only in Africa • They are in the horse family

Physical Adaptations • They have white fur that makes light bounce off and keeps them cool • And big ears that lets heat out • Their fur is thin that helps them stay cool • Their stripes help them blend in with family • They have long legs that help them run away from predators
Behavioral Adaptations • Zebras take time to memorize each others stripes if a new zebra comes into the herd • They clean each others fur so they can stay clean from the dirt • They have a lot of courage to fight off predators • They run a lot to help them lose weight
Physiological Adaptations • They have light bones to help them run fast away from predators • They have strong, flat teeth that help them eat grass • they have a layer of fat under their skin to keep looking fit and not fat to predators • They have very strong leg muscles and one kick can kill a puma
Fun Facts • A zebra can out run a cheetah or a leopard by running in zigzag lines • A baby zebra can run 40 miles per hour • Zebras only live in Africa • Zebras can live in a herd as big as 120 zebras
