GINN’S SCIENCE CLASS RULES • TSW follow rules the FIRST TIME they are given. • TSW keep your hands to yourself. • TSW follow rules in OBMS handbook
CONSEQUENCES FOR “POOR” CHOICES • Warning • Time out from activity AND teacher conference • Lunch or after school detention & call/email parent • Parent conference • “Write up” referral to Administration

SCIENCE GRADING POLICY • TESTS/PROJECTS45% • CLASSWORK 25% • HOMEWORK 10% • 9 WEEKS TEST 20% 100%
WHAT IS A PROCEDURE? • A procedure is the way to do your work. • To do things right, we have to follow some simple procedures, for example: • To bake cookies, you need to follow the steps in the recipe. • To place a call on your phone, you need to dial the numbers in the right order. • To be your best at a sport, you are expected to follow rules and procedures and PRACTICE! So, to be successful in learning, you need to follow these simple procedures
HOW TO ENTER THE ROOM: • Make sure you have all necessary materials from the class the night before • Enter the classroom quietly • Go DIRECTLY to your assigned seat • SHARPEN PENCIL IF NECESSARY! • Read and begin bellwork on the board
BELLWORK • You will have bellwork everyday you come to class • It will be located on the promethean board • You should begin working on bellwork as soon as you enter the classroom, NOT AFTER THE BELL! • There will be a weekly grade on bellwork • You should have a place in your notebook to keep all bellwork
GETTING OUT OF YOUR SEAT • If you need to get out of your seat for any reason, raise your hand and ask • This includes sharpening your pencil, throwing trash away, needing tissue, etc.
GOING TO THE RESTROOM OR NEEDING WATER • You are not leaving this class to go to the bathroom or get water unless I have a doctor’s note • If it is an emergency come talk to me and I may allow you to go, but remember emergencies to do not happen often • It is your responsibility to go to the bathroom and get water in between classes
WHEN THE TEACHER TALKS • You are to be quite and listen • Give your undivided attention • No pencil sharpening, talking, or whispering • Do not write anything during instruction • You will be given time to write • If you do not understand my instructions, raise your hand and ask for help. Do not just sit there no knowing what to do.
TURNING IN ASSIGNMENTS • Put your full name and class period on assignments. • Assignments turned in with no name WILL BE THROWN AWAY! • NO NAME = NO GRADE • Assignments will be placed in the appropriate slot on the table in the front of the classroom.
TESTS • Tests will cover what we learn in class • If you do the work, the test will be a breeze • If you do not do the work, your score will be disappointing for you • You will know everything that we be on the test
IF YOU ARE TARDY • As you enter the room, do not disturb the class • 3 tardies = 1 absence • This will matter when semester exams come around
IF YOU ARE ABSENT • When you return… • Go to the homework wall and look for your class period folder • Find the work you missed in the folder – if there is nothing in the folder come see me • Assignments are due the next day • Accommodations are made for 2 or more consecutive days missed • Turn in completed work to your class period slot on the front table • IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILTY TO MAKE UP ANY WORK THAT YOU MISS! • If you have any questions about anything, ASK! • I AM ALWAYS HERE TO HELP YOU
WHEN THE BELL RINGS • The bell does not dismiss the class. • You will be dismissed BY ME when you ENTIRE TABLE has…. • CLEANED up anything on the table or under it • Science books are in a neat stack up against the wall • SEATED in your chair • QUIET When I dismiss your table make sure you PUSH YOUR CHAIR ALL THE WAY UNDER THE TABLE
