  1. INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION (ICSTI) ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS SUPPORTING INNOVATIVE BUSINESS

  2. BASIC FACTS • Intergovernmental organization established 27 Feb 1969. HQ is in Moscow; • 22 member states (Governments); • Associated partners (private business) ~ 50 partners from 14 countries.

  3. ICSTI member states

  4. ICSTI MANDATE • Facilitate and support international co-operation in science, information exchange, technology transfer and innovations; • Provide services in the field of scientific and technical information; • Assist small and medium innovative technology-driven business.

  5. OPERATING PRINCIPLES • Governing body: Committee of Plenipotentiary Representatives – comprises high-level officials appointed by governmental agencies of ICSTI member states; meets at least once a year; • Network of National Focal Points: governmental agencies (science and R&D, technology and innovations, education), national centres of STI; • Headquarters: management and implementation; • Partners: organizations in member/non-member states, international agencies (UN family, EU, etc.), business companies, individual scientists and researchers.

TRADITIONAL ICSTI ACTIVITIES • Development of and on-line access to data bases (R&D results, meta-data, technology offers, business, etc.); • Development of information tools (thesauri, software); • Analytical reviews and market research; • Capacity-building projects; • Publications; • Conferences, exhibitions, workshops.

ICSTI ADVANTAGES • Over 40 years of professional activities; • Established network of partners in member / non-member states: government agencies, research, academic, information, business communities; • Regional/multilateral approach; • International, intergovernmental status and long-term experience in managing business projects; • Partnerships with large innovation/business associations in member and non-member states. • Standing relations with international agencies supporting SMEs, innovations, technology transfer (e.g., UNIDO, etc.)

International journal “Information and Innovations” • 2006 - 2011 • 22 issues of journal. • About 100 articles from 15 ICSTI member states, from 4 partner countriesand 4 international organizations. • More than 370 descriptions of proposals of technologies and innovative products from different science and technological areas.

International collection “Innovation processes in ICSTI Community” Themes: ”Status of national innovation systems”, “Environmental challenges and solutions”, “Novel Technologies and Products”, “Production of clean water: challenges and innovative solutions”. Participated 15 ICSTI member states and partners from the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic.

International seminars and conferences International workshop “Project proposals from ICSTI member states for international (including European) R&D cooperation programmes: Opportunities regarding Renewable Energy and Water Treatment” (Rome, 2010) During the past 5 years ICSTI held 23 international events in innovation and technological sphere and participated in 14 events with reports and presentations

Information and analytical pillar: • “Consortium for collective acquisition of electronic editions” • Application of “SwetsWise Online Content Catalogue” • Project “Intellectual property and innovation activities” • Project “Innovation centres in alternative energy sources in ICSTI member states” . 2. Innovation and technology-related pillar: • IPN further development • IWG meetings 3. ICSTI grants - main projects: • Publication of “Innovative processes in ICSTI community” analytical collection. Title of the edition: “Issues of modern applied materials science”.
