What it is. • People with this disorder have sudden and repeated attacks of fear that last several minutes. • These are caused by anxiety • Therefore the classify this as a Panic Disorder
History • While having an attack you tend to have your heart racing faster then normal. • This disorder was generally in the 1980s • This was put in by the (APA)= American Psychiatric Association
How common is this? • Its very common through out the world • Affects 2.4 million adults • It starts to show up around young adulthood
Symptoms • Sudden attacks of fear • Nervousness in different situations • Sweating and racing heart • Difficult breathing • Intense feeling of dread • Trembling or shaking
Treatments • Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy • This therapy, will go through steps to help you breath calm. • Also it go's through everyday life situations • Medications, like serotonin, which is a antidepressant
How you are diagnosed • If symptoms show up doctors will then evaluate • If no physical illness doctors send you to a psychiatrist • Then they will diagnose you if symptoms are commonly founded • No causes founded, but they say it ruins in (DNA)
Abuses that are used • Smoking, will increase an attack • Caffeine is a big cause to have another attack • More people tend to use Alcohol with this disorder
