Consistent messages so far…. • Define specific national goals • Improve FGDC coordination – revise governance, structure, increase responsibility for inter-agency brokering • Make framework real – implement standards, advance concept • Institute a formalized education & training program especially to support implementation • Resolve confusion about GOS, TNM, and FGDC • Increase visibility of NSDI and geospatial contributions • Address the implementation of revised OMB Circular A-16 • Maximize funding opportunities among Federal agencies • Leverage GOS & DHS needs

Bold Steps to Goals • Define specific national goals for the NSDI by May 2004. • Redefine the structure of the FGDC by August 2004. • Establish the business case by October 2004. • Build the content according to the published framework standards beginning March 2004. • Develop a public relations/communications strategy to support the goals by July 2004.

Timeline • 4/6/04 - Briefing to FGDC CG (initial findings) • 4/30/04 - Draft report complete & distributed, solicit comments from community • 5/4/04 - Briefing and feedback from FGDC CG • 5/14/04 - End of comment period • 5/28/04 - Final report to Staff Director • 6/1/04 - Presentation to FGDC CG • 6/4/04 - Report to FGDC Steering Committee
