Submit the University's Green League questionnaire response by 01 May 09. Improve on last year's score, improve on last year's league position and report to University Executive on areas to be improved for 2010 submission.

To complete a 'Carbon Opportunities Assessment' (COA) with our Green500 'Carbon Expert'. Work with our Green500 'Carbon Mentor' to further develop the Carbon Reduction Strategy.

To achieve a waste recycling rate of 80% by the end of 2009 – 2010 (currently 50%). To roll out the new recycling boxes for staff and communal student areas by the start of 2009 – 2010 academic year. To introduce a comprehensive glass, metal and printer cartridge recycling scheme and to extend computer equipment and furniture recycling schemes currently in place.

Target 9 of the Action Plan is: To establish and develop an Environmental Champion programme amongst staff and students. Need to identify volunteers. They are out there.
Slide 28:What's the point?
The University can only reduce its environmental impact through the actions of individuals. It's easy to think that someone else will turn off the lights, or that leaving photocopiers, computers and printers on does not have a significant effect. Savings in utilities bills.
Slide 29:Role of Environmental Champion
