Greenhouse demo • Set up half a plastic bottle with some damp mud on the inside. • Shine a bright lamp on it and leave it over the lesson. • Set up a similar pot of mud with no lamp. • Explain what is seen How do farmers maximise the growth of their plants?

Task – use pages 154 – 155, and the information to help you design a farm. • You are about to buy a new farm and you need to fill in a profile for the farm, to give to the bank for a mortgage application. • You will need 1) a birds eye view diagram of your farm, what will you grow where? 2) A business plan – what will you grow and why? Include in your business plan ….. • What techniques will you use to grow your plants? • Organic / intensive / green houses / hydroponics. • You are a CROP farm but will you have any animals and why? • What will be your biggest earner? • Will you buy /rent machinery?
