Gary Smelt Partnerships and Communities Emarketplace Our vendor experience
Formed in 2003 to meet the developing personalisation agenda and individual choice and control Act as legal employer Services allow people complete freedom that they get as the individual employer, but without the headache and risk We call it the “Middle way” National provider, head office in Derbyshire Clients of all ages and need (including children) Employ over 350 PA’s on behalf of our clients nationally
CQCregistered Work in partnership with NHS,LA’s and the third sector Members of UKHCA, Skills for Care, CredAbility, In Control, Self Direct, and TLAP One of the first to sign up to and complete the Making it Real action plan and priorities
Quickly found that our middle way services do not fit with traditional care models - where we fit has /is a challenge • Marketing and networking driving is key • Internet and its constant growth in choice are an integral mechanism
What we think Negatives Positives • Vendor apathy • Searching for vendors • Charge sensitive • Amazon/EBay analogy dangerous • Professionals need to embrace it and look outside the traditional routes such as frameworks • Too many models difficult for vendors to monitor and manage • Providing choice • Will continue to grow and develop • Meet the need of the ever increasing purchasing population • Inclusive approach to consultation • Cost effective solutions • Providers are developing robust systems • Assessment of quality of services on offer
