BMU Triggers for Higgs Jason Nett Wisconsin Group Meeting June 2th, 2008 • Muon Categorization for Triggering III BEACH 04 J. Piedra 1
Review • Previous Questions/Issues: • Look at phi plots in forward region to understand unaccounted denominator fills. • This data set appears to not contain BSU or TSU information, so can’t use that to better approximate BMUJET. Artificial eta cuts must be used instead. • Ensure that events are not passing both the MET+Jets trigger and one of the BMU triggers. • Better accounting of reasons for NOT passing any trigger fits the stack more tightly into the denominator. • Removed artificial eta cuts on the new trigger bmujetMet. • Calculated numerical efficiencies. Wis Group Meeting 2
Stack from last time • Still a few unaccounted for denominator fills. • Some bmujetMet hits may have counted as MET+Jets • Had artificial eta cuts on new trigger. Wis Group Meeting 3
Phi of BMU muons • No reconstructed muon between 4.0<phi<5.5. Wis Group Meeting 4
Revised Stack • Fewer unaccounted denominator fills. • Cut out W-muons with 4.0<phi<5.5 AND eta>1.0 (rough guess on my part) • bmujetMet expands and takes up some BMUJET events. • CMUP eff = 0.32; CMX eff = 0.11; CMU eff = 0.07; CMP eff = 0.08; • bmujetMet eff = 0.055; BMUJET eff = 0.01; MET2JET eff = 0.14; • IsoTrack eff = 0.11 Wis Group Meeting 5
ZH->llbb • Repeat same analysis as for WH->lvbb: • The denominator cuts are: 2 generator-level muons with at least 18 GeV, 2 jets of at least 10 GeV, 1 of the jets has loose b-tag. • Since there are two Z-muons, there is a choice of what eta to fill. For now, I’m choosing the muon with lower magnitude of eta. • If both Z-muons are matched, isolated, high pt, and pass triggers, then I fill the one with lower eta. Wis Group Meeting 6
First try at ZH-llbb • Choose b/w the 2 Z-muons by eta. Wis Group Meeting 7
Conclusion • Unless more issue are found, I’m concluding the study of WH events, and… • I’m moving on to ZH events • Instead of choosing between the two Z-muons by eta alone, I want to choose by trigger priority first and then by eta if they pass the same trigger. • Next steps • Finish for ZH->llbb events. • Revisit trigger rates Wis Group Meeting 8
