Joseph: A Type of Jesus Christ Type = a model or pattern or mould “A resemblance between something present and something future, which is called the ‘antitype’.”
oseph Sinned Against - Despised J esus Joseph - Father gave coat Despised by brothers Jesus - Mt. 27:18 - for envy Isa. 53:3 “despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.”
“He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” John 1:11 Joseph’s brothers took advantage of him. They even talked about killing him as the Jews talked of killing the Son of God. Matt. 27:1
Application: 1 Pet. 4:16 “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.” II Tim. 3:12 “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”
