A Proposal By Christopher Danelon Jonathan Pavan Phillippe Roy Natalie Schabowicz
In the mind of the creator • A world which let’s you make all the decisions • Installation will be viewed in a gallery • Single person use • Electroencephalography (EEG) and Tactile technology will allow users to take control of a virtual world
TECHNOLOGY • Electroencephalography (EEG) • Study of brainwaves where electrical activity is mapped on the scalp • Brainwaves are recorded to find pattern • Ex. Alpha -> Relax • Ex. Beta -> Stress • EEG has been used in such projects as • Gaming • Research into telepathy
EEG in “in the mind of the creator” • User’s naivety aids the experience • Sensor’s attached to the user’s head will record stress levels, categorizing them into 2 states; • Low Stress Level-> Pleased • High Stress Level -> Unpleased • These 2 states affect the events on the virtual world • Pleased -> The world will receive miracles, aiding society • Unpleased-> The world will receive tragedies, troubling society • Ex. Natural disasters • Interactivity occurs between the user (God) and the people
Tactile Technology in “in the mind of the creator” • Use of physical interaction directly to the medium • Touch technology brings realism • Gives user affordance • Attachment • People can intervene with the EEG technology to better or worsen the environment.
The world & Events • “The World” is set on an tropical island consisting of; • A volcano • Farm (crops) • Forest • Each part is tangible to benefit or cripple the environment • “God” overlooks the world at a bird’s eye view
Placement • Interaccess Gallery • http://www.interaccess.org/ • A space where the artist’s purpose not to sell, but to share • Gallery specializations • Interactivity • Networks • Virtual Worlds • In The Mind Of The Creator fits all of those qualities • Hands-on-workshop
Conclusion “In The Mind Of God” is an installation that visualizes the affect of power and emotion. Through observation, we are able to distinguish a common path a “God” will take. With so much power at someone’s disposal, we are able to see how vicious or benevolent the nature of people can be.
