Social Classes Social classes have been around since the 1800’s. They were used to label the people of different working classes.
Upper Class Description The first known use of upper classes was in 1837. Most people in the Upper Class are known to be humble and described as royals because of the amount of money and income. Many represent leadership, heads of corporations, foundations, universities. Mostly owners of a lot of land and stocks.
Upper Class • Income of about 100,000+ a year • Jobs • Doctors • Lawyers • Business owners
Upper Middle Class Description This class is about the same meaning of the Upper Class, except lower income than the Upper Class. Many are just the “poor” to the higher class. Most people don’t even realize that the Upper Class is split into two parts.
Upper Middle Class • Income is 60,000-100,000 a year • Jobs • Accountant • Billing supervisor • Career Services Director
Middle Class Description The first use of Middle class was in 1836. They are described as high material standard living, and respect for property.
Middle Class • 30,000-60,000 a year • Jobs • Athletic trainer • Call center sales coach • Cartoonist/ animator
Lower Middle Class Description These are your average workers that you run into everyday. They are people our age that we know who have jobs such as a fry cook, or waitress.
Lower Middle Class • Income 20,000-30,000 a year • Jobs • Cashier • Nursing assistant • Fast food cook
Lower Class Description Lower class is the last thing someone would want to be labeled as but truth is they might even be without knowing it. We have friends and family living in these conditions without a lot of money that seem to make it through without letting it show. These people work full time trying to make as much money as they cam and still never make enough to get by.
Lower Class • Income 0-20,000 a year • Jobs • Amusement Park Attendants • Movie Theater Ushers • Personal and Home Care Aides
