SharePoint Dev in 30 Seconds • SharePoint is an application platform for intranets, portals, document management, collaboration, … • A bunch of stuff sitting on top of IIS and with a SQL back end • WSS (free with S03/S08) is the base, MOSS (not free) adds more • Code-based customisation is performed in Visual Studio, using C#, and leveraging existing ASP.NET skills • Microsoft produce the Visual Studio Extensions for Windows SharePoint Services (VSeWSS) to help • Alternative toolkits built by the community also exist
