Who Am I? • Matt Smith • MVP, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) • MCTS – WSS and MOSS Development • Started ChChSharePoint User Group (and spoke last night!) • With Intergen: • Just completed one of NZ’s largest MOSS implementations • Key member of team building VSeWSS 1.3 • Buggering off overseas

SharePoint Dev in 30 Seconds • SharePoint is an application platform for intranets, portals, document management, collaboration, … • A bunch of stuff sitting on top of IIS and with a SQL back end • WSS (free with S03/S08) is the base, MOSS (not free) adds more • Code-based customisation is performed in Visual Studio, using C#, and leveraging existing ASP.NET skills • Microsoft produce the Visual Studio Extensions for Windows SharePoint Services (VSeWSS) to help • Alternative toolkits built by the community also exist
