Free VerseWaterfalls A forest wakes at sunrise , and dawns gray waters acquire midday’s blue sheen. A waterfall in the forest rushes to rocks and then crashes onto them. The waves land as if embracing their warm surfaces. Hummingbirds’ wings a wind in the nearby trees. Their green branches bow to the waterfall, their queen. Surrounding the waterfall are delicate flowers. Their colors are enough to make the most honored empress bubble with envy. A lazy snake suns its body at the edge of the water. It sleepily flicks its tongue every now and then. The rhythmic flow of the water winds its sound among the aging, pale trees. Shhhh, Shhhh, chshhh, oooshhhchhh. This wonderful scene is called… nature.
NarrativeDrought One day there was a place that badly needed rain, But since there wasn’t any, This place was very plain, And there were some wild animals, but there were not very many. One day there came a man, He said he could do magic, He said he’d make some food appear, But that mistake was tragic. The animals were tired, The animals were dry, They said the man should get fired, And they thought the were about to fry. One day the man came with a trick To end the terrible drought, To the animals he shouted “Please come quick!” The animals came walking (but in lots of doubt.) He waved his hands, He wiggled his toes, Out of the ground an umbrella rose, But the sweating animals thought the trick was bland. Then Lion jumped up in the air, Then came down with some pain, The sky had some rips and one big tear, And down from these fell something called rain.
LimerickFishing There once were two very dumb boys, These boys had very little poise, They went fishing in a gale, Then they sliced a strong shark’s tail, And no one saw more of these boys.
