Actions of RACTI concerning Subtask 2.3.4 - Demo booth in events • 22 October 2010: Initial version of the demo booth prototype sent to all partners asking them to make their comments and proposals for improvements • 27 October 2010: Deadline for comments/proposals • SCHOTEN’s comments (email sent on 25.10.2010) • VYSOCINA’s comments (email sent on 27.10.2010) • 29 October 2010: Final version of the demo booth prototype and how-to-use instructions sent to all partners
Instructions/steps to install the demo booth • The procedure consists of five distinct steps: • Download demo-booth prototype created by RACTI • http://gaia.cti.gr/broadband/Exports.zip (size: 3.32 GB) • http://gaia.cti.gr/broadband/Instructions.zip (size: 11.8 MB) • Download and install VirtualBox version 3.2 • http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads (depending on your operating system) • Import the prototype to VirtualBox • Osepa Demo Booth.ovf • Log in to OSEPA demo-booth • No password is required to login to the system • Add new FOSS applications • User name: OSEPA, Password: osepa_demo
Demo booth brief presentation • Installed Ubuntu distribution version 10.4 (version 9.10 was upgraded to version 10.4 according to VYSOCINA’s comments) • Installed FOSS applications are located in the folders (located in the Desktop): • “Open source applications for end-users” and • “Open source applications for European public administrators” • The categorization of FOSS applications is based on the target audience according to SCHOTEN's comments • On the Desktop of OSEPA Demo-Booth you can find: • “Osepa presentation”, an html-based presentation • “Osepa presentation.odt”, an Openoffice Impress presentation

Requirements for demo booth installation (1/2) • Hardware requirements • Desktop or laptop: up to the organizers' choice • If desktop: keyboard and mouse • Number of desktops or laptops: depending on the expected number of attendances • Memory (base memory size): minimum 512 MB (recommended 1024 MB) • Free disk size: minimum 10.0 GB (recommended 12 GB) • Screen resolution: minimum 1024 X 768 • USB ports: suggested (for transferring data) • DVD/CD-ROM drives: suggested (for transferring data)
Requirements for demo booth installation (2/2) • Software requirements / Other requirements • Operating system: Any (the corresponding VirtualBox version is required) • Internet connection (wireless connection): required • Projector for demo-booth demonstration: one
