  3. The Shepherd’s Hand • Laius: “Kill him.” • Shepherd’s revision: “Take him away.”

  4. King Polybus and Queen Periboea of Corinth • Adopted parents of Oedipus

  5. Oedipus: Prophesy given to Oedipus when he visits the oracle at Delphi: “You will kill your dad and marry your mom.” He leaves “home” to protect his parents and himself.

  6. BUT: Oedipus Laius Thus, he kills his dad
