  3. NOUNS • NOUNS are called naming-words. • They are the names of people, animals, places and things

  4. SINGULAR AND PLURAL NOUNS

  5. SINGULAR NOUNS • Singular means that there is ONE of something • The singular form is used when referring to ONE person, animal, thing or idea.

  6. Here are a few examples of SINGULAR NOUNS A ball A car A rabbit

  7. PLURAL NOUNS • Plural means two or more • The plural form is used when referring to TWO or MORE people, animal, things or ideas • Plural nouns are formed in many ways : 1) By adding –s book …. books apple …. apples

  8. 2) By adding –es to nouns ending in “-s, -sh, -ch or –z” class …. classes watch ….. watches 3) By changing “–f or –fe” into –ves leaf …. leaves wife …. wives 4) By adding –es to nouns ending in –o tomato …. tomatoes

  9. 5) By adding –s to nouns ending in –o radio …. radios piano …. pianos 6) By adding –s to nouns ending in-y boy …. boys monkey …. monkeys 7) By adding –s to nouns ending in –f or –fe roof …. roofs safe …. safes
