  1. Rulings on Fasting for Women 70 Issues Related to Fasting Part 6

  2. If a girl reaches puberty and is too shy to tell anyone: If she does not fast she must repent and make those days up as well as feed a poor person for each day if the following Ramadan comes and she has not yet made them up So assure that your daughters who are puberty are fasting

  3. If she does not remember how many days she has not made: • She should fast until she is certain she has made those days up.

  4. Points to Remember: • You have until the next Ramadan to make up your fasts • Some Scholars are of the opinion if you have not made those fasts up by the next Ramadan you are a sinner and must repent and then follow the repentance up with good deeds such as charity or more fasting

  5. Menstruating Women: • Once the menses ends she should immediately make her intentions to fast and resume fasting the next day • If she notices blood again, then she must stop fasting and wait until she is clean irregardless as to whether it is spotting, flowing or whatever • If a woman recognizes bleeding from her vagina she must stop fasting and make that day up even if the bleeding occurs one second before time to break fast

  6. Also concerning Menses: • If a woman's menses ends during the night and she does not take the ghusl before time to begin fasting, she simply take the ghusl when she wakes up and her fasting is valid • If a woman believes her period will begin tomorrow, she must continue to keep her intention to fast until she actually sees the blood • It is best to avoid medication to stop your period and instead accept the concessions of Allah

  7. Concerning Miscarriage: • If the miscarried fetus is formed or its body parts can be recognixed, then the bleeding that occurs is nifas • If the miscarried is just a blood clot the bleeding is considered to be istahadah and she should continue to fast and pray • If D& C is given then she should resume fasting after her bleeding stops • If a woman becomes clean from nifas before the 40 days then she should begin to fast

  8. Nifas – Bleeding after giving birth to a baby: • If the bleeding stops before 40 days and then resumes then she should stop fasting until the bleeding stops • If she bleeds beyond 40 days she should take a ghusl and resume fasting and praying

  9. Pregnant and Breastfeeding women: • A pregnant or Breastfeeding woman is obligated to fast as is everyone else. • If however her life or the life of her baby is in danger and this has been told to her by a Muslim qualified doctor, then she becomes like a person who is ill and does not have to fast but instead should pay the ransom for every day she is unable to fast

  10. The prophet (sa) said: • “Allah has lifted the obligation of fasting and part of the prayer from the traveler, and He has lifted the obligation of fasting from the pregnant and breastfeeding woman.” • (Tirmidhi) • Ibn Abbas has explained this to mean only if the woman or baby's life is in danger or for the breast feeding woman – if her milk dries up and she continues to breast feed.

  11. What is the Ransom: • The ransom is the feeding of one poor person a complete meal for each day that you are unable to fast. The amount is determined by the cost of living where you live so contact your local Masjid. • Also the money can be paid to the masjid for the Imam to distribute to the needy muslims in his community

  12. Intercourse while fasting If a woman consents to her allow her husband to have sex with her while fasting, then the sin is on her too and she must make the same expiation as the man. But if he forces her, she does not have to make expiation

  13. If a woman knows her husband is weak: She should encourage him to go to the masjid and get rewards until time to break fast

  14. Finally: • Women do not have to have the permission of their husband to make up their days from Ramadan

  15. Questions go ahead! This concludes the 70 issues related to fasting
