Oral presentation requirements • Research a topic that your M2 teacher has approved • Prepare a 4-6 minute presentation • Create a PowerPoint slideshow that will help you present your presentation • Provide an opportunity for your audience to ask you questions • Present at the end of the block • Worth 15% of your final mark
What must I include in the Powerpoint presentation? • You will need to include the following in your slides: • Outline • Introduction • Main points with examples • Conclusion • References (e.g. diagrams, sources etc.) • Question time • Do not write full sentences on slides(except for questions) • Write in point form only
How will I be marked? • You will be assessed on: • Organisation and content • Visuals • Delivery (Outline sheet only - no reading off notes/essay) • Answering questions at the end • Presentation skills are more important than PowerPoint skills. • Any copying of others’ work will result in a D grade.
What do you know about Powerpoint? Do you know how to: • Apply slide layouts and design • Insert pictures or clipart • Save and print your PowerPoint presentation • Open a slide show Extras (not essential) • Apply slide transition • Customise animation
How do I save my work? • Create a folder in AE Students folder and save in the Student Work folder ELAB5\ StudentWork \ AE Students \Your classname\ Folder with your name • Don’t save your files into “My Documents” of the computer that you are using. (All files will be deleted once the computer is restarted) • Don’t use USB/memory sticks! – email your Powerpoint to yourself or save in StudentWork
Other advice • Rehearsal • Finish your slideshow by next week • Check the clarity of your slides • Check the Timing • Can you use your laptop? • No.
