Editing & Revising: 10 minutes on the timer • First read. Read through your entire paragraph OUT LOUD (by whispering under your breath). When you come across sentences/words/ideas that sound weird, fix them! • Second read. Since it is assumed that you have already run spell check, double check your paper for: • words that might not be spelled “wrong,” but they are not the correct spelling for what you mean • appropriate capital letters—if it is capitalized in the book, it should be capitalized in your essay! • The spelling, capitalization, and punctuation of the book match the prompt • Page numbers—they should be there AND they should be formatted correctly! • Page numbers/examples should also be listed in the order that they happened within the paragraph.
When you name your file… Because we have been talking so much about the importance of following directions, you are going to get a score in the grade book for this. It is all or nothing—that means you have ONE chance to do this correctly. Pay close attention! Name your Google document with the same EXACT format as this example: 2, Brown, Charlie, MR 1 Copy and paste your essay from Pages into this document. Remember that when you copy and paste your words from Pages, you will need to underline the title again since it does not “remember” that when it is pasted.
