the journey So what did we do? What were the issues? Have we moved forwards? What are we planning to do now?
our remit what we discussed Vision for Westminster SEN Joining both schools in a federation/ amalgamation Recruiting an exec head over both schools
our concerns what we discussed governors open to change, but... Well being of school and pupils more important than wider LA issues Forced/shot gun marriage? Uncertainty We could work more closely together without federating Staff concerned about change & worried for their jobs Could a single head support both schools ? Vision for Westminster SEN Joining both schools in a federation/ amalgamation Recruiting an exec head over both schools
our proposition what we discussed what we finally (!!) agreed To join together as a soft federation To work together more closely and see how it goes To recruit an Exec Head over both schools To support wider LA SEN vision – as appropriate which gave us the opportunity to recruit an outstanding Exec Head Vision for Westminster SEN Joining both schools in a federation/ amalgamation Recruiting an exec head over both schools
our achievements what we discussed what we have done Appointed Norman Stromsoy as exec head Increased our voice at Westminster Improved links with mainstream Developed outreach services, supporting 400 students 6th form at CPS – based at St Marylebone and in future at CPS BSF at QE2 and CPS (approx £13m) Governors Support with Panels Support with Resources and Finances Vision for Westminster SEN Joining both schools in a federation/ amalgamation Recruiting an exec head over both schools
where are we now? April 2011 have we moved forwards? Soft federation has been very successful We know and like each other We recognise that there is uncertainty, both politically, and with Norman’s departure Both Schools Performing Well Executive Head Teacher moving back North Recruitment Market ?
