Dividing Fractions. Ivan C. Daniel D. Eduardo Z. R ules. To divide by a fraction, use KFC which is keep,flip,change. Keep the first fraction the same. Flip the 2 nd fraction. Change to multiplication. Then multiply straight across and simplify. Ex.1.

  2. Rules • To divide by a fraction, use KFC which is keep,flip,change. • Keep the first fraction the same. • Flip the 2nd fraction. • Change to multiplication. • Then multiply straight across and simplify.

  3. Ex.1 • Rewrite the mixed number into an improper fraction. • K-F-C • The product of a nonzero number and its multiplicative inverse is 1.

  4. EX.2 K-F-C Keep 1st fraction flip the 2nd fraction change division to multiplication To divide by a fraction, multiply by the reciprocal of the divisor.
