Logicorp Logistics Center’s competitive advantage Overweight Truck Corridor Bill Is Signed Into Law House Bill 474, allows overweight trucks from Mexico to come across the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge and use designated routes to reach their intended warehouse destinations in Pharr, McAllen and Mission. “The Pharr bridge is currently ranked 7th in the nation for commercial truck traffic and No. 2 in the nation for fresh produce crossing. We are expecting to be No. 1 for fresh produce when the new, massive, inter-oceanic highway between Mazatlan and Matamoros opens up.” Keith Patridge, president and CEO of McAllen EDC, said the overweight corridor legislation was one of two key bills his group was pushing during the 83rd legislative session. The other was to have the state help the federal government with produce inspectors at land ports of entry. “The legislation to create an overweight corridor was so important. It means we can carry more produce on each truck, from the bridge to the foreign trade zone,” Patridge said. The weight limit of a truck in Mexico is greater than it is in Texas. In Mexico, the cargo can be as much as 125,000 pounds. In Texas, the limit is 80,000 pounds. Under HB 474, Mexican truckers crossing at Pharr would no longer have to unload one third of their cargo in Reynosa. Instead they can roll on through to warehouses in Pharr, McAllen and Mission. There will be a designated corridor for them, centered on Military Highway and South 10th Street in McAllen.
Logicorp Logistics Center’s competitive advantage The new highway between Durango and Mazatlan will shorten time between this two cities by as much as 6 hours. The highway will pass under and over the Sierra Madre Occidental through 63 new tunnels and 11 new bridges. The most important is the Baluarte Bridge which is now the highest bridge in North America at 1300++ft. Security will be greatly enhanced in this region, due to quicker access and mobility of the military.
