4. SCARNG - CAP • All Soldiers including (MILTECH/AGR) are eligible as long as: • Satisfactory Participant • Attending a State Headquartered School • Must complete AIT • 1st Associate or Bachelor Degree • Maximum of 130 semester hours • Up to $18,000 maximum benefit

5. SCARNG - CAP Pays up to $4500 per academic year. Full-time student will receive $2250 each semester up to the cost of attendance. Pays for books, fees, etc. Subject to availability of funds. Must apply annually between 1 June and 1 August. Height/Weight and APFT failures will disqualify Soldiers from eligibility in the program

FTA Rates • Up to $250 per Semester Hour (SH) or $167 per Quarter Hour (QH). $16.66 per clock hour for trade certificate • $4,500 per fiscal year to include authorized fees • Limited to 16 semester hours per year • Parking and Books are not authorized for using FTA funds • If you are flagged for APFT or HT/WT, you are not eligible

9. FTA Process FTA is paid directly to the accredited institutions FTA is not an entitlement it is a benefit and it is subject to availability of funds Soldier must maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.0 (Undergraduate) or 3.0 for (Graduate courses) FTA will pay for courses only “once” FTA can be requested up to 60 days before the course start date. Request must be approved PRIOR to course start date. There is no longer a grace period. All FTA requests must be entered on the GoArmyEd.com website

10. FTA Limitations Pays for a Bachelor’s Degree or up to 130 Semester hours of Undergraduate credit, which ever comes first. Pays for a Master’s Degree or up to 39 Semester hours of Graduate credit, which ever comes first • If you used FTA for a Undergraduate degree, you must have 10 years TIS before you can use FTA for a Graduate degree. Pays for certifications up to the Master’s level • Hours count against the 39 semester hours

12. ESO Actions 1606 • ESO makes recommendation based on information in Guard Incentive Management System. Once approved, ESO places NOBE into Soldiers PERMS. ESO also makes recommendations to make Soldiers ineligible as applicable. 33 • ESO assists Soldiers in the transfer of their CH 33 entitlements • ESO advises Soldiers and units of Soldiers who have done the TEB and do not meet the 4 year service obligation that an extension is necessary.

14. Montgomery GI Bill Chapter 1606 Pays directly to Soldier each month 6 year commitment, Diploma, & Completion of IADT 36 months of benefit (If first benefit, 12 months if 2nd) Currently $368.00 per month for a full time student

15. Post- 9/11 GI Bill Entitlement Individuals will generally receive 36 months of benefits. Individuals are limited to 48 months of combined benefits under educational assistance programs administered by VA. In general, individuals will remain eligible for benefits for 15 years from the date of last discharge or release from active duty.

18. Transfer of Entitlement DOD determines eligibility for transferability and may, by regulation, impose additional eligibility requirements and limit the number of months transferable. You must agree to serve an additional 4 years. Must have served 6 years before you are eligible to transfer benefit. MUST transfer PRIOR to discharge or retirement.

Transfer of Entitlement Spouses may Use benefits after transferor completes 6 years in Armed Forces Use benefits up to transferor’s 15-year eligibility period expires unless the transferor specifies an earlier ending date. Receive benefits in the same manner and at the same rate as the transferor.

Transfer of Entitlement Children may- Establish eligibility if benefits are transferred before the age of 23 Use benefits after transferor completes 10 years in Armed Forces if they: - Are at least 18 years old - Have completed requirements of secondary school Receive benefits at the rate of a veteran
