  3. Acts 1 • Jesus heard perfectly, spoke boldly, executed the Father’s will relentlessly, rebuked demons with absolute authority, and healed completely • He desired to transfer all that power to His disciples (John 14:12) • Jesus notes that there are two different baptisms (water and Spirit)

  4. Questions about the Kingdom • The disciples were still looking for a worldly Kingdom. They missed the point • Jesus corrects them with a proper perspective • The time will come, but it is not for you to know • The Kingdom, for now, is a Spiritual Kingdom, not an earthly one

  5. The Upper Room • In obedience, they determined to wait, just as they were instructed • In disobedience, Peter thought he needed to do something else • The 12th man was never supposed to be Matthias, it was obviously someone not even in the room • Paul

  6. All together with one accord • Homothumadon – with one accord • Unanimous, mutual consent • Mentally • Physically • Spiritually • Emotionally • Harmony, leading to action

  7. Mentally • Their thoughts agreed – they were waiting for the Promise of the Holy Spirit • They had all seen the Power of God poured out through Jesus • They had all heard His teachings for the past 40 days. • They had all seen the rocks break open, the skies grow dark, and the temple veil torn

  8. Physically • In unity, they were waiting • It was more important for them to be together in prayer than to attend to anything else • They were physically the gathering of the First Fruits • Pentecost was the Day of First Fruits according to the Jewish feast

  9. Spiritually • Personally, they had seen great things • Now they were waiting, in spiritual anticipation • They had no idea what was coming, or how it would affect them, but they knew it would be spiritually significant • They were willing to allow God to do whatever He wanted, not someone else’s expectations

  10. Emotionally • To have the head, the heart, and the Spirit aligned is vital • Emotion can interfere with all the above • Fear could keep someone from wanting to be seen as different • Uncertainty could cause someone to resist • They were open and willing to receive

  11. Only one focus • Their eyes were focused on one thing and one thing only…….Their next step as disciples of Christ • Not concerned about denomination • Not concerned about the role they would fill • Not concerned about how big, how much, how popular, how successful • Only one thing. Jesus
