  1. The World’s Shortest Stories Stories in 55 words or less. -Pick up a story from the back table and your composition books. -Pick up a 6th Grade Reading Study Guide -Turn in late reading logs.

  2. "For sale. Baby shoes. Never worn." • Ernest Hemingway, as a young newspaperman in the 1920s, bet his colleagues $10 that he could write a complete story in juts six words. What you see above is his story. • In your composition book, write down questions you have about this story. (For example: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BABY!?!?!?!?!) • Also write: What is your interpretation of the story?

  4. Daddy’s Home • What did the writer lead you to believe in the first few lines? • At what part did the climax occur? • What is the resolution? • What actually happened in this story?

  5. Centers • At each group, you will find one story. • Everyone will have a copy of the story, but one person may read the story aloud. • When you finish reading, you will have questions to answer about each story. You do not have to write down answers, but you must discuss them within your groups.

  6. Create Your Own • It is time to create your own story in 55 words or less! • I have provided you with story sentence starters, but you may also come up with your own. • Your story must have: • Title (which is a part of your story…a clue possibly! • A plot twist • Your name at the bottom (or signature)
