Saul attempts to kill David • Tries to spear him to the wall – 1 Sam 18:11 • The dowry for Michal – 1 Sam 18:25-27 • Orders his servants and Jonathan to kill him – 1 Sam 19:1 • Another spear – 1 Sam 19:10 • Messengers sent to kill him – 1 Sam 19:11-15 • Continues to pursue David until his own death – 1 Sam 31
There are Saul’s around today • The parent who abandons their child • The parents who can never be pleased • The boss who always expects more • The relationships that were once close but are not any longer • The dirtball who sexually abuses children • The once close friend who abandons you for some unjust reason
What did David try to do? • He could have taken Saul’s life twice • He could have led a rebellion against King Saul and he would have had plenty of help • He could have used his wife to manipulate her father • He could have driven a wedge between Jonathan and Saul • But instead, he lets God handle it
And God sent him help • David had close friends who would stand beside him during his trials with Saul • Jonathon • Michal • Samuel • Ahimelech • Oh, did I forget one? GOD!
