Work in Central Asia regarding SEIS • UNECE/EEA & partners assistance to establish national SEIS - two UNECE intergovernmental bodies: • Working Group on Environmental Monitoring and Assessment and • Management of monitoring networks • Development of environmental information systems • Preparation and application of SoE reports • Preparation and application of other assessment methodologies • Joint Task Force on Environmental Indicators: • Transfer of knowledge on environmental indicators • Discussed and agreed a set of environmental indicators • Review of the production and sharing of the indicators

Work in Central Asia regarding SEIS • UNECE/EEA & partners assistance to establish national SEIS – the focus of both bodies: • Today: several environmental indicators / Tomorrow: additional several indicators to be added as part of SEIS common components (until a full list is reached) • Assessment based on indicators • Create the necessary knowledge base for effective policy making

Work in Central Asia regarding SEIS Future activities with the lead of WGEMA and JTF Each CA country: - has a system in place producing the agreed indicators - writes the ‘story’ for each of the indicators - analyzes the indicators and makes environmentalassessments More immediate focus (before 2016): Indicators and assessment regarding Air Pollution and Green Economy (as potential themes for 2016 EfE Ministerial Conference) 2014 202X WGEMA and JTF give a guarantee for a continuing process and sustainability
