  1. Who need surveys anyway? Run an electronic multi-shot survey tool Without cables, batteries or computers With its own QA system Look at some survey results Observe the effects of borehole deviation E N C O R E Borehole Surveys WHERE DID THAT DRILLHOLE GO? An introduction to borehole surveying

  2. FLEXIT SmartTool Survey System E N C O R EBorehole Surveys E N C O R E Borehole Surveys WHERE DID THAT DRILLHOLE GO?

  3. MINES & QUARRYS Exploration; coring, RAB and RC Orebody definition coring Drill & Blast development Production blasting Raisebore pilots DRILLING IS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, MAXIMISE IT WITH F L E X I T Without surveys, you could lose your deposit

  4. GROUND ENGINEERING Site investigation Grout curtains Ground anchors Compensation grouting Drill & Blast tunnelling DRILLING IS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, MAXIMISE IT WITH F L E X I T Without surveys, the ground isn’t engineered

  5. For a multi-shot drillhole survey, you need:- The SmartTool 1 SensIT in hole probe {NO film, batteries or cables } 2 StoreIT pocket data pad {NO stopwatch or notes } 3 An office PC with the MeasureIT and DisplayIT software Some Running Gear 3 Shock sub, pressure barrel &aluminium sinker bars 4 Wireline, rods, pipe or rope to run SensIT into the hole Drillsite Details 5 Hole reference and measurement depth Operating the FLEXIT MultiSmart

  6. SensIT in an AusMine running gear kit

  7. 1 Switch ONStoreIT 2 Use SETTINGS to enter:- Hole reference number Start station depth (say, 250m) Station depth interval (say, 6m) Survey direction (say, up) 3 Press DATAto confirm entries 4 Press NEW to startSensIT,using the radio chip 5SensIT is now taking a reading every 5 secs Start the survey with the StoreIT data pad

  8. 1 Place SensIT in the pressure barrel, supported by the spring hanger 2 Lubricate O-rings. Tighten threads by hand 3 Tong up running gear threads 4 Run SensIT to survey start station depth; hold it still. Preparing SensIT for running into the hole 3 x 1.5m aluminium spacer bars Totally sealed SensIT probe Spear-type landing collar Top sub assembly Bottom sub with shock assembly

  9. 1 Switch ONStoreIT 2 Screen will show 3 Press & hold OK until StoreIT peeps. Taking the first shot with StoreIT Depth 250 m (start depth) Press OK Measuring Wait ..5 secs (counting down)

  10. 1 Wait until StoreIT peeps again and screen shows 2 Move SensIT up 6m to the 244 m station 3 Press and hold OK until StoreIT peeps. Taking the next shot with StoreIT Depth 244 m(start depth-6m) Press OK Measuring Wait ..5 secs (counting down)

  11. During a survey use SETTINGS to:- Change station depth Change station interval Redo or duplicate a station End the survey Start a new survey while SensIT is down the hole Continuing the survey with StoreIT

  12. 1 Use SETTINGS to:- 2 Press and hold OK until StoreIT peeps. 3 Pull running gear out of the hole, remove SensITfrom pressure barrel & place within 10m of StoreIT. Completing the survey with StoreIT End Survey? Press OK

  13. 1 Use SETTINGS to:- 2 Press & holdOK until StoreIT peeps. 3 Wait until download is complete 4 Switch OFF StoreIT Transfer data from SensIT to StoreIT End Session? Press OK Downloading Record No. # (counting)

  14. Download data from StoreIT to a PC 1 Connect TransITaerial to your PC serial port 2 Switch ON StoreIT 3 Run MeasureIT software; click Download 4 The radio link and software do the rest!

  15. Quality Check system guarantees results • Checks for tool movement • Checks for magnetic disturbance • Allows you to delete or adjust unreliable readings • See the MagIC presentation

  16. A tabulation for each station of up to 17 measurements. Choose only the ones you want. A true plot of the hole in plan, E/W or N/S sections Choose the scale, colours, marks, grid spacing Any number of holes, collar extension on/off Supplementary data plotted against hole path Max/min hole separation Exported to any other software How would you like to see the results?

  17. How would you like to see the results?

  18. How would you like to see the results?

  19. Note: Four degree change in dip over first 2 metres Remainder of hole is relatively straight. Total error of 1.13 metres (6%) at 16 metres depth Some typical readings from a “vertical” hole

  20. Borehole interference in Civils projects • Surveying will prove the integrity of reinforcement programs • MeasureIT warns you when hole separation exceeds set limits It’s so simple with FLEXIT

  21. Six inclined grout holes are collared at 150 deg. to allow for known RH deviation; see 2, 4 & 6. Unfortunately 1, 3 & 5 hadn’t read the script! Displaying hole paths on a PC
